Memorial Mile races takes place for 29th year

It was great running weather for the 29th annual Memorial Mile, presented by Walgreens, on Memorial Day just before the 114th Kiwanis parade in Boardman.

Once again this year, the race was the USATF Lake Erie Association One Mile Road Championship.

Coming off of a great track season, recently graduated Youngstown State University runner Ryan Sullivan returned to the winner’s role this year.

The future of women’s running was evident in this race as Raegan Burkey barely edged out Gianna Stanich for the win this year. One hundred and fifty-nine runners turned out for the event this year.

The race was sponsored by Walgreens, the DeBartolo Corporation, Novak and Davis Insurance, Auto Owners Insurance, 910 Rapid Care, Coca Cola, Armstrong Cable, Home Savings Bank, McDonalds, CTW Development, Brian and Shanna Laraway, Tune Weavers and N.E.O. Urology.
