Mahoning Valley Amateur Radio Association is celebrating 100 years of amateur radio this year. The club is asking any former members or anyone with information about former members to reply. Mill Creek Chapter of ABWA will meet July 9 at the Georgeanna Parker Pavilion in Boardman Park. There will be networking at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30. The menu will include chicken provided by the chapter and covered dishes provided by members. The public is welcome.
CLUBS
First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown will welcome the Rev. Stephen Popovich at 11:30 a.m. July 11 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. The Rev. Mr. Popovich, retired pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, New Middletown, will speak on “Science and Religion.” There will be an opportunity for questions after the presentation. Outspokin’ Wheelmen Bicycle Club offers a varied choice of bicycle rides daily and is seeking new members. Check out outspokinwheelmen.com for information. Participants will meet at Mill Creek MetroParks Farm, 4574 Columbiana-Canfield Road, Canfield, and bike for 13 miles on a trail and residential streets. Trumbull County Travel Club has the following trips planned: Aug. 14, the oddities of the Canton area; Sept. 9-17, vacation to South Dakota; and a Nov. 2 outing for a gingerbread tour in Pennsylvania. The club is open to anyone over 21. There are no dues, and meetings are twice a year at various locations within the area. Trumbull County residency is not required to travel with the club. Youngstown South Christian Women’s Connection will host a “From Sea to Shining Sea” luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 10 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. The event will feature Bill Rotar who will present, “Songs We Love to Hear.” Guest speaker will be Naomi O’Kane and her topic will be “How to Do It – The Right Way.” Cost is $14, which includes lunch.
