The Carnegie Science Center brought their digital blow up planetarium to the Poland library on June 13.

Supervising librarian Hayley McEwing organized the event.

“We had a lot of people interested in this event, and a long waiting list,” McEwing said.

Representatives from the Carnegie Science Center set up the planetarium in the large sitting area in the library.

More than 30 children and their families sat in the dome to watch a show about all the things in the night sky.

Children watched some of the characters from Sesame Street, including Elmo, Big Bird and their friend Hu Hu Zhu, show them around the solar system.

McEwing said that the having the planetarium visit the library was part of the summer reading program.

The theme for summer reading this year is a universe of stories, with a number of space themed events planned for throughout the summer months.
