Library to host reading program

LISBON

The Lepper Library will host its annual Summer Reading Program until July 29. This year’s theme, “A Universe of Stories,” is in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The program is free and open to all ages, and children pre-K to grade 6 can be registered at any time. Children’s programs will take place at 1 p.m. each Monday.

Students in grades 7 to 12 can participate by reading books, magazines, e-books, manga, zines, audio books, e-audio books or to someone else to win prizes and gift cards. Teen programs will take place at 6 p.m. June 27 for a movie and at 6 p.m. July 18 for a nacho party.

Adults can participate by reading books, listening to audio books or by participating in programs throughout June and July. For information, call the library at 330-424-3117.

Wellness Wednesday program planned

SALEM

The Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will host its Wellness Wednesday program at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Quaker Room. Stephanie Hughes, master gardener through Mahoning County Extension Service and an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist, will present “EEEEKS! Bed Bugs!”

The program is free and open to the public.

Nominations open

The Greater Youngstown Italian Fest 2019 is seeking nominations for the Italian man and Italian woman of the year. Nominees will be introduced at the opening of the festival at 5 p.m. Aug. 2, downtown. Applications are available by visiting www.youngstownitalianfest.org/Italian-man-woman-year or email to caramia822@aol.com. The deadline for entries is June 20.

Father’s Day Car Show

Beaver Township Ruritan will host its 15th annual Father’s Day Car Show on June 16 at South Range High School, 11300 Columbiana-Canfield Road. Registration takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the show will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Cost is $5.

MVHS to host ‘History to Go’ series

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will host the first program in its “History To Go” series at 5 p.m. June 28 at the Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave. The event will finish at Rhine Haus Bier Hall, 40 Phelps St.
