Offensive tackle Staley signs two-year extension
SAN JOSE, Calif.
The San Francisco 49ers have signed offensive tackle Joe Staley to a two-year extension that will keep the longest-tenured player on the team under contract through 2021.
The team announced the deal at the state of the franchise event for fans on Wednesday night.
The 34-year-old Staley was originally a first-round pick by the 49ers in 2007. He has started 174 of 192 games since entering the NFL, ranking fifth in team history in games played by an offensive lineman. He has also played eight playoff games. He said earlier this offseason that he wants to finish his career with the 49ers.
Staley was a second-team All-Pro in 2011-13 and has also been selected to six Pro Bowls in his career.
Washington Redskins
Tackle Williams raises training staff concerns
Ashburn, Va.
Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams skipped the opening day of the team’s mandatory minicamp reportedly over contract concerns.
The reason for his absence reportedly shifted to a medical-based issue by Wednesday’s second day of minicamp.
Williams’ no-show centered on frustration with the team’s training staff according to reports. The specific issue comes from the initial treatment of a growth on the seven-time Pro Bowl lineman’s scalp. Williams had the growth removed following the 2018 season.
Indianapolis Colts
Colts knew of Okereke’s sexual assault allegation
INDIANAPOLIS
General manager Chris Ballard says the Indianapolis Colts knew about a sexual assault allegation against Bobby Okereke before drafting the Stanford linebacker.
Ballard said Okereke told team officials about the allegation from 2015 during their first meeting in January. Ballard says the Colts contacted officials at Stanford and others close to Okereke but did not speak with the accuser or her attorney. A university panel decided not to punish Okereke and no criminal charges were filed.
Ballard says team owner Jim Irsay also was aware of the allegation before the Colts used a third-round draft pick to select Okereke No. 89 overall.
Last year, Okereke was a team captain and a quarterfinalist for the Lott trophy, an award for the nation’s top defensive player on and off the field.

Becker is an undrafted rookie who joins Buffalo a month after being released by the Detroit Lions.
The Bills freed up roster spots by releasing defensive tackle Quindarius Thagard and tight end Moral Stephens.
