The Mahoning Valley Accounting Society will host a seminar titled Medicaid Planning on Tuesday at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St. The presenter will be Attorney Jack N. Alpern. Registration will be at 8 a.m., and the seminar will begin at 8:30. The cost, which is a one-time special pricing, is $10 per person and includes breakfast. PFS celebrates 75 years of service

YOUNGSTOWN

Protestant Family Service of the Greater Youngstown Area recently celebrated 75 years of service at Grace Lutheran Church with the installation of officers, board and committee members. Officers installed were the Rev. Maralana Martin, president; Azell Burley, vice president; Cathy Pokrivnak, secretary; and Harold Blackann, treasurer.

Board and committee members inducted were Sandra Dean, Atty. John Dellick, June Ewing, Karen Hanousek, the Rev. Walter Hale, the Rev. Gwendolyn Johnson, Sandra Johnson and Shirley Megown. Willie B. Baker, Donna Hageman and Lori Mahone are newly elected members.

Elva Easton, Marge Whitacre, Chuck Rudge II and Helen Underhill were noted for serving more than 25 years.

Recovery International to meet Monday

Society to host open houses

POLAND

The Poland Historical Society will host an open house of the Little Red Schoolhouse, 4515 Center Road, from 1 to 3 p.m. June 9, July 14 and Aug. 11. Society members will be available to answer questions.

Library receives grant for readiness program

YOUNGSTOWN

The Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County recently received a $16,500 Institute of Museum and Library Services and Technology Act grant from the State Library of Ohio, that supports kindergarten readiness training for librarians and the purchase of Early Learning Backpacks, which include books, toys and an activity guide, for families to borrow. The LSTA grant also funded the purchase of 62 early learning backpacks.

The program will be taught by Saroj Ghoting, an early childhood literacy consultant and national trainer of early literacy.
