Canfield-Poland romps to another victory

KIRKLAND, WASH.

Canfield-Poland pounded out 17 hits in defeating host Kirkland 14-6 on Tuesday for its third straight Junior League Softball World Series win.

Mary Brant drove in three runs with two hits and scored three times while Alaina Francis had three hits for Canfield-Poland. One of Brant’s hits was a homer.

Emily Denney, Mia Opalick, Layni Bednar and Meredith Trevis each had two hits. Francis hit two doubles while Brant and Bridgett Kelly each hit one.

Emma Wolfe scored three runs and Gia Schiavone two.

Francis pitched five innings to get the win.

Today at 4:30 p.m., Canfield-Poland, the Central Regional representative, will play Asia-Pacific.
