Lepper Library, 303 E. Lincoln Way, will host authors Joe Tucciarone and Ben Lariccia at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 5. They will talk about their new book on the coal strike of 1872 in the Mahoning Valley iron furnaces. Call 330-424-3117 to register.
KSU is listed in top 100 schools
In its 2020 edition of best graduate schools, U.S. News & World Report recently ranked Kent State University 93 in the top 100 of the best graduate education schools. The ranking improves 15 places from 108th last year. The rehabilitation counseling program and public health school program also received high rankings.

TCTC teacher awarded fellowship
ATHENS
Kristofer Doran, interactive media teacher at Trumbull Career and Technical Center, was recently selected for the second annual Communication Fellows program in Ohio University’s Scripps College of Communication.
Fellows will attend a half-week summer residential experience at Ohio University’s main campus and receive free tuition for a graduate-level online course, a $1,500 stipend and $1,000 classroom stipend.
Foundation hosts Hall of Fame awards

Struthers School Foundation recently hosted its eighth bi-annual Hall of Fame Awards Banquet at The Embassy. The foundation honored John Grandy, retired coach, and Dr. Ronald J. Iarussi, both who have been lifelong supporters of the community and school system. Individuals are distinguished in their chosen professions, dedicated to service with integrity, and role models for the youth.
The keynote speaker was Jim Cossler, Huntington Bank entrepreneur in residence at the Youngstown Business Incubator, who discussed the educational needs of our youth to support their future careers in the coming world environment.
