Notebooks, backpacks, glue sticks and crayons are just some of the school supplies Boardman Police are asking you to help fill two of their marked cruisers with on Ohio Tax-Free Friday, on Aug. 2.

The BPD is partnering with the Boardman Walmart and Target Stores to collect school supplies for students in need (grades K-8) for the upcoming school year. Marked cruisers will be parked in front of the Walmart Store on Doral Drive, and the Target and Office Max Stores in the Shoppes at Boardman Park between 12-4 p.m. that day.

“It’s a great way to take advantage of Ohio’s tax free weekend, and pick up a few extra items to help get all of our kids ready for the new school year,” said Boardman Sgt. Mike Sweeney. “We hope to stuff our cruisers with donations in just four hours, but if people can’t be there Friday, they can drop off school supplies to the police department by Aug. 5.”

Items needed include: loose leaf paper, pencils, colored pencils, crayons, markers, folders, binders (1 inch, 1.5 inch and 2 inch) dry erase markers, glue, index cards, tissue products, hand sanitizer and Clorox-type cleaning products.
