Artist to visit OH WOW! Museum

Michael Albert, American pop artist and author, will present an art-making session from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 4 at the OH WOW! Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology, 11 W. Federal St. The event is for children, teenagers and their parents. AMS student to attend NASA Space Camp

AUSTINTOWN

Austintown Middle School student Jibril Jackson recently won a full scholarship to the NASA Space Camp in Huntsville, Ala. After writing three essays, a science project and personal statement, Jibril was selected from 250 entrants for a full tuition scholarship. His scholarship includes a week at NASA’s space camp, room and board. He leaves Sunday and will graduate from camp Aug. 2. This camp provides students with STEM activities, space travel simulations and access to information provided by former astronauts and space engineers. Jibril is a straight-A student who attended The Lewis School for Gifted Students before expanding his education by attending Hector Garcia Middle School in San Antonio, Texas. As a 7th-grader, he will attend Austintown Middle School this coming school year. For information on the space camp, visit spacecamp.com/space/camp.
