Gettin’ Crafty set for Aug. 12

SALEM

The Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will present its next Gettin’ Crafty class from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 12, in the Quaker Room. The class will learn to recycle and give new life to ceramic tiles. All materials will be provided. The program is free and open to the public. Registration is required and can be made online at www.salem.lib.oh.us or by calling the library at 330-332-0042.

Beatitude House requests donations

YOUNGSTOWN

The Beatitude House is asking the community to donate school supplies now through Aug. 9 at the administration building at 238 Tod Lane for the fast approaching 2019-20 school year. Donations will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday each week.

Traditional supplies are needed but some specific items needed are as follows: one-inch binders, flash drives, plastic folders, three and five subject notebooks, note cards, book covers, pencil boxes, pens, colored pencils, highlighters, red pencils, mechanical pencils, big block erasers, calculators, hand sanitizer, paper towels, sandwich and large baggies, sanitizing wipes, dry erase markers, wide-ruled and college ruled notebooks or loose leaf paper. Gifts cards to Target or Walmart also are appreciated.

Helping Hands Closet specials for July

Helping Hands Closet at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, has nearly new clothes for the entire family. July specials for the family include all inventory at 50 percent off. There is a large infant through teen department. Store hours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Tuesday.
