Garden Tour - Local Flavor

When: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday

What: Join OSU Extension staff and trained master gardener volunteers to learn more about growing practices, helpful tips, soils, organic production and more. Bring a lawn chair for seating and a notepad. Don’t forget your weeds, diseases and insects. We’ll diagnose what’s going on in your garden too.

Basics of Survival

When: 5 to 8 p.m. Monday

What: Discover the skills you would need to survive in a true emergency. Includes making a survival bracelet and cooking over the fire.

Where: MetroParks Farm, 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Road, Canfield.

Cost: $12 for Mahoning County residents, $14 NR.

Recreational Hike

What: Join our volunteer-led recreational hike and walk at your own pace. Easy, 1 or 3 miles.

Little Explorers Club: Beautiful Butterflies

When: 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday

What: Ages 3-6, plus adult. Join the club as we explore and enjoy the wonders of summer. This month we will become beautiful butterflies.

Concert of Crickets and Katydids

When: 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 10

What: Join OSU Extension & Mill Creek MetroParks for the Naturalist Series. We’ll learn about the musicality of nature’s insects with Dr. Lisa Rainsong, who spends much of her time studying and teaching music theory, while also taking time to appreciate and learn from nature’s music.
