Sunrise Senior Living in Poland hosted its annual Fourth of July party on July 1.
Activities Coordinator Kitty Leonelli organized the event for residents and community members.
“It’s just a fun day time event for the residents to get together and celebrate the holiday,” Leonelli said.
The residents kicked off the event with a picnic inside.
Leonelli also hired singer Michael Angelo Prisco to entertain the guests throughout the event.
Prisco performed a number of songs by Frank Senatra and Dean Martin.
Leonelli also worked with the Mahoning Valley Ulster Project to bring student volunteers from America and Ireland to the event.
Kymberlie Stutz, a board member of the organization, said that the group works alongside Irish families to have students spend a month in the U.S. with local American students.
Stutz said that the group does a number of service projects throughout their time here, but this is the first time they have worked with Sunrise.
Students sat with residents and enjoyed the music and food, keeping them company throughout the party.
“It’s just a way to get them out and to have new experiences,” Stutz said. “We are very excited to team up with Sunrise.”
Sunrise Senior Living will host another event for residents on July 17, with its Elvis in the House party.
