UPDATE | Man in custody after attempted robbery at Liberty bank

Police identified the man who attempted to rob the Home Savings bank on Belmont Avenue as 23-year-old Dabraylin Hawkins of Youngstown.
He is charged with felonious assault, aggravated robbery and gun charges.
Hawkins did not succeed in taking any money from the bank. Police said he exchanged two gun shots with a uniformed Liberty police officer inside the bank. The officer was not shot. After Hawkins was shot, police said he fled to the Belmont Cemetery and was eventually apprehended at the parking lot of Jimmy’s Italian Specialties.
He was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for his injuries.
Home Savings is closed and blocked off by police tape.
Police and Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers canvassed Jimmy’s Italian Specialities parking lot and the Belmont cemetery for evidence.
A gun was recovered at the scene. A blue hoodie and black pants along with a hat were found at the edge of Jimmy’s parking lot.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted.
