Canfield Village Middle School eighth-grade students celebrated the end of their time at the school and moving onto the high school at the school’s annual Eighth-Grade Picnic on June 5.
The class of 2023 was treated to a picnic lunch of pizza, chips, watermelon, cookies and water by the PTA and eighth-grade parents. Several PTA parent volunteers helped out with the lunch and throughout the day. Amy Kinkade and Denise Malkovits served as co-chairs for the event.
“Our eighth-grade parents are so generous. We have over 20 volunteers here today and I am just overwhelmed by the response. We all pulled together to provide a nice, memorable picnic for the kids,” Malkovits said.
The PTA also provided a DJ playing music for the students in the gym and a photo booth to take photos as a souvenir of their special day. As an additional treat, the students were visited by Kona Ice, which gave each student a cup of Hawaiian shaved ice, courtesy of the PTA.
Several students donned Class of 2023 T-shirts, which also served as canvasses for their classmates to sign their names and write messages. Many students were also signing yearbooks.
