Cafaro Foundation awards 28 scholarships

The Cafaro Foundation is announcing the 28 recipients of scholarships that were recently awarded. The William M. and Alyce Cafaro Scholarship was awarded to Leanne Brown of Cortland.The winners of the John A. Cafaro Scholarships are: Danna Atway, Jowad Atway, Pavels Avdejevs, Claudia Chew, Ashlyn Cleevely, Morgan Cleevely, Laura Denman, Oscar Garrett, Allison Grusha, Travis Harvey, Mariah Johnson, Camryn Kadel, Briana Lepore, Sara Morrison, Angelica Park, Ian Price, Dean Sarris, Samuel Warg, Kelly Wlodarsky, Daniel Yoder and Marissa Yourstowsky. The Donald P. Pipino Memorial Scholarships were awarded to: Brandon Malahtaris, Olivia Swarthout, Aubrey Mosora, Dane Stauffer, Maccy Taylor and Owen Lewis.

Society will celebrate 100th anniversary

The Cultural Society of St. John Roman Catholic Church will host its 100th anniversary celebration at 3 p.m. Sept. 15 at St. John the Baptist Church, 159 Reed Ave. A dinner will follow at the Palermo Center.
