JULY

Monday — Parto’s Golf Center Junior Golf Summer Camp begins and continues through Friday. Sessions from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Cost is $65 per child. Instruction including etiquette, basics and play on the par-3 course. Stop out or call 330-743-6718 to register.

Tuesday — United Way of Lawrence County outing at Avalon Field Club will feature appearance by PGA Champions Tour golfer Rocco Mediate, who will conduct a clinic at 11 a.m. Tournament begins at noon with the format of play the best two balls in each foursome. Saturday — The ninth Annual Chuck Housteau Memorial Golf Outing at Bedford Trails begins with breakfast/registration at 8 a.m. Shotgun start for four-man scramble will be at 9 a.m. Cost is $75 per golfer and features breakfast, lunch, dinner, beer, pop, water, 50/50 raffle and basket raffle. Saturday — Girard Lions’ 25th annual Golf Outing at Mahoning Country Club begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Proceeds help provide eyecare for students. 29 — Valley Christian Athletics Golf Fund-raiser at Avalon Lakes. Four-person scramble is $100 per player and includes greens fees, cart, breakfast, hot dogs at the turn, steak luncheon and beverages. Prizes and contests will be available. 31 — Independent Insurance Agents of Mahoning County Junior Golf Classic will be at Mill Creek Golf Course. Tournament is free for those not yet attending college and younger than 19 on July 31. Event will raise funds for needy students to attend Ursuline High School, where Maughan taught, coached and worked as athletic director for more than 40 years. 23 — Canfield Lions Club “We Serve Canfield” Golf Scramble at Mill Creek South. Lunch and registration at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost is $100 per individual and includes golf, lunch, dinner, beverages and door prize entry. Mulligans, 50/50 and basket raffle will be available. The first-place team wins $400 and entry to next year’s event. Second place wins $300 and third wins $200.
