Class B Championship

Astro Falcons 4, Creekside Fitness 1

STRUTHERS

The Astro Falcons take a 1-0 lead in their best-of-five championship series against Creekside Fitness as Bryce Warwick went the distance, allowing just an unearned run on seven hits. He struck out five and walked one. Andrew Vance suffered the loss for Creekside, surrendering three runs on five hits in four innings pitched, while striking out five and walking one. Brayden Beck had two hits and an RBI for Astro. Warwick helped his own cause with two hits and a run scored. Ricky Havrilla hit a two-run double and scored a run and Kevin Vaupel slugged an RBI single for Astro. Kyle Weitzel singled home Dylan Gurski for Creekside’s only run. Game 2 is at 7 p.m. today on Field 3 at Cene Park. Game 3 is Sunday at 5 p.m. on Field 1. Game 4, if necessary, will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday on Field 1. Game 5, if necessary, will be Monday at 7 p.m. on Field 1.

Class b Championship

Prospects 10, Roth Brothers 0

STRUTHERS

Austen Price tossed a three-hit shutout in the Prospects’ victory. He walked two and struck out two. Alex Tomsic took the loss for Roth, yielding three runs in just 22/3 innings. Konnor Learn had three hits for Prospects, including a double, three RBIs and three runs scored. Jared Mindek had two hits, two runs and an RBI and Shane Cato banged out a hit and drove in two runs. David Leslie contributed a hit and scored twice. Ty Ventresco had two hits for Roth. Game 2 is at 6 p.m. Monday on Field 2 at Cene Park. Game 3, if necessary, will be at 8:30 p.m. Monday on Field 2.

BOARDMAN

Poland advances to meet Canfield in a district championship at 8 p.m. today on Field L-1 at Fields of Dreams. Austintown was eliminated. Poland plays Canfield tomorrow on Field L-1 at 8PM for the district championship

Boardman 10, Poland 9

BOARDMAN

Boardman held off Poland in a thriller to win a disitrict title and clinch a state tournament berth. The state tournament begins July 27 in Cambridge.
