Garden Forum hosts flower show

YOUNGSTOWN

The Garden Forum of the Greater Youngstown Area Inc. recently hosted its June Flower Show at the D.D. and Velma Davis Education & Visitor Center in Fellows Riverside Gardens, Mill Creek MetroParks. The theme of the show was, “Countdown to 2020,” which will be the Forum’s 90th anniversary.

Blue ribbons in design were awarded to Millie Campean, Mary Lou Flere and Joyce Dunbar, all of Gleaners Garden Club, and to Lauren Mangino of Nature Lovers Garden Club who also won the special award in design for “The First Ten,” representative of the original 10 garden clubs that founded the Forum.

Barbara Murray, Garden Gate Garden Club of Poland

Millie Campean, Gleaners

Marianne Hilderhoff, Immaculate Heart of Mary Garden Club

Peggy Potts, Johnny Appleseed Garden Club

Madeline Pedaline, Member-at-large

Lauren Mangino, Nature Lovers

Sheila Bowman, Nature Lovers

Rosemary Fller, Nature Lovers

Cindy Salerno, Nature Lovers

Salerno also earned the special award for her entry of a white astilbe specimen.

Celebration plans for the Forum’s 90th anniversary are underway.
