Gospel fest at amp with James Fortune

James Fortune will be the headliner of the fourth-annual 2Deep Entertainment Gospel Festival, which will take place at 6 p.m. July 14 at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre. Tickets are $13, $18, $23 and $33 and are on sale at the Covelli Centre box office and at ticketmaster.com (fees may apply). Fortune is known for his hit songs “I Am,” “Favor of God,” “I Believe” and “I Trust You.”

Hopewell auditions

The Hopewell Theatre, 702 Mahoning Ave., will have auditions at 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday for its 2019-20 season opener, “The Man with the Plastic Sandwich.” Casting requirements: two males, who can play ages 40-65, and two females, who can play ages 25-35. Directing is Regina Reynolds.

“The Man with the Plastic Sandwich” is a comedy about an unemployed man who encounters three provocative characters while contemplating his options on a park bench: a high-spirited ingenue who represents hope, a distinguished hobo who represents wisdom, and a hooker who represents reality.
