Scrappers shut out Crosscutters for second straight night
Hankins leads Mahoning Valley to win

Ethan Hankins added another dominant start with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. He allowed four hits in 41/3 scoreless innings in a 2-0 win over the Williamsport Crosscutters on Wednesday night.
Hankins lowered his ERA from 1.42 to 1.06, allowing one walk and striking out six.
The right-hander didn’t record the win since he didn’t pitch five innings. Francis Cespedes (2-0) entered the game with one out in the fourth.
Cespedes pitched two innings of hitless ball, allowing three walks and striking out one.
Taylor Lehman (0-1) allowed one run on eight hits and struck out four.
After Billy Wilson doubled in the fourth, Pedro Alfonseca hit an RBI single to right field to open the scoring for the Scrappers (11-8).
Brayan Rocchio hit a lead-off triple after Alejandro Made entered the game. Ray Delgado followed with a sacrifice fly to left field, capping a seven-pitch at-bat in the top of the eighth.
The eighth inning was the best scoring chance for the Crosscutters (4-15). Luis Valdez hit Nate Fassnacht, allowed a single to Kendall Simmons and walked Juan Aparicio to start the inning.
Tim Herrin entered the game and got Nicolas Torres to pop out and Logan O’Hoppe to ground into an inning-ending double play.
Herrin pitched a perfect ninth for his fifth save.
The Scrappers will return to Eastwood Field for a six-game home stand. They will open a three-game series with State College today at 7:05 p.m.
