Millennial presents 'Drop of Blood'

Sarah Ferguson-Burns stars in “Drop of Blood,” which will premiere this weekend. A production of Millennial Theatre Company and Rust Belt Theater Company, the play will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and also Feb. 8 and 9, at Calvin Center, 755 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown.

The cast also includes Kelli Young, Tylor Zuniga, Barb Malizia, Isabella Sandberg, Sofia Sandberg and Dominick Spisak. Director is Mariah Cresanto. Tickets are $15 ($13 for senior citizens and students) and can be purchased in advance at millennialtheatre.org. “Drop of Blood” is about two young women, whose friendship faces the ultimate test as one of them loses her battle with AIDS.

It was written by Gertrude Brooks of Mansfield, who is the winner of MTC’s fourth-annual competition for new plays written by millennials.

Brooks’ work was chosen from a pool of 30 submissions. MTC is now accepting submissions for next year’s millennial works competition. Information will be posted on the company’s website beginning Friday. For information, email millenialtheatrecompany@gmail.com.
