School spelling bee winners announced

Boardman Center Intermediate School and Boardman Glenwood Junior High recently hosted a spelling bee to determine who would advance to represent Boardman at the Vindicator’s Spelling Bee at YSU March 16. Madelyn Mraz, seventh grade, beat 51 other students at Glenwood. Carson Essad, eighth grade, was runner-up. Boardman Center Intermediate School’s competition lasted nine rounds. Out of 64 students, Santino Slipkovich came in first place after correctly spelling the word “visionary.” Sarah Rizvi, also a sixth-grader, was the runner-up.
