Phantoms best Lancers in shootout


RALSTON, NEB.

Jack Malone and Connor MacEachern scored in a shootout to gave the Youngstown Phantoms a 4-3 win over the Omaha Lancers on Saturday in Ralston Arena.

Thomas Farrell, Liam Dennison and Ben Schoen scored for the Phantoms (17-15-1-3). Aleksi Peltonen and Blais Richartz scored for the Lancers (11-19-1-4) in the second period. Ryan Savage tied the game at 3 with 2:44 seconds to force overtime.

Phantoms goalie Chad Veltri made 29 stops in regulation and to in the shootout. Jonathan Mor, who appeared in 14 games for Youngstown this season, made 22 stops for the Lancers.

The Phantoms fell 7-3 to the Tri-City Storm on Friday in the first game of a five-game roadtrip.

The Phantoms will play the Lancers again today at 5:05 p.m.
