YSU breaks school records at Penn State
STATE COLLEGE, Pa.
The Youngstown State men’s and women’s track and field team broke two school records and captured two first-place finishes on the first day of the Penn State National Elite Invitational.
Nicole Squatrito, Iva Domitrovich, Natalie Fleming and Jennifer Muhlenkamp broke the school record in the distance medley relay by more than seven seconds with a time of 12:04.19.
After posting the fastest times in the prelims and semi-finals, Chad Zallow turned in his quickest time of the day with a 7.66 performance in the finals of the 60m hurdles, his third win of the season.
Sophomore Jayliah Elliott set a school record in semi-finals of the 60m dash with a time of 7.33 seconds. Elliott posted a 7.36 in the finals to secure a win.
Junior Collin Harden placed seventh in 60m hurldes with time of 8.05 seconds. Brendon Lucas clocked time of 6.95 seconds in the 60m dash and freshman Jamynk Jackson finished with his fastest time of 6.97 seconds.
Members of the team will compete today. The women’s 400m dash begins at 10:50 a.m. and field events start at noon with the high jump and shot put.
