The Canfield speech and debate team competed at three tournaments on the weekend of Dec. 15.
Part of the team competed at the GlenOak Debate Tournament, one of the most prestigious regular-season debate tournaments in Ohio, with a total of 31 teams attending. Though there were not any team awards at GlenOak, Canfield had four students earn recognition. Prabh Dhaliwal and Robert Faix were both in the top 18 in Congressional Debate, and in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Jessica Lee was in the top 8 and Hannah Kelly was in the top 16.
Additionally, part of the team competed at the Canton McKinley Tournament, which featured competition from 30 teams. Canfield finished in seventh place as a team. Members earning individual recognition were Claire Berlin (sixth place in Declamation), Ashton Gingerich (fifth place in Humor), Bridget Fekety (fourth place in Informative Speaking) and Tatiana Caballero (seventh place in Original Oratory).
Finally, part of the team competed at the Howland Tournament, which had 20 teams competing. Canfield finished in ninth place as a team. Team members earning individual recognition were Moe Prather (first place in Declamation), Dhruv Shah (sixth place in International Extemp) and Sydney Kinkade (fourth place in United States Extemp).
