The Art of Portraiture from Life exhibit public opening and reception has been postponed until Saturday because of inclement weather warnings. It had originally been scheduled for Jan. 19.
Group to host viewing of short film
VIENNA
Friends of Ohio Barns will host “The Barn Raisers,” a 50-minute film that tells the story of vintage barns in Ohio and surrounding states, as well as the men who built them. The showing will take place at 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Vienna Township Hall, 848 Youngstown-Kingsville Road, and is sponsored by the Vienna Historical Society.

The Simon Youth Foundation will be accepting scholarship applications now through Feb. 20 from 2019 graduating seniors who live in the community surrounding Grove City Premium Outlets. Recipients are eligible for a one-time $1,500 scholarship, which may be applied to an accredited college, university, vocational or technical school.
SYF’s 2019 scholarship recipients will be selected by a third-party partner, International Scholarship and Tuition Services. Applicants will be evaluated based on academic promise, financial need, written response, work experience as well as community and extracurricular involvement.

Center will host open house

The Child Care and Learning Center of New Middletown, 10143 Main St., will host an open house from noon to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 10 and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27. There will be tours available and opportunities to meet the staff and receive information. YSU ranks third in social media

A report completed by Rival IQ, a new media competitive analysis software, and the Up & Up Agency, a higher education marketing agency, stated recently that Youngstown State University’s social media efforts rank third in Ohio and in the top half nationally. The report ranks the engagement rates of the Twitter, Facebook and Instagram channels for 338 Division I colleges and universities across the United States.
