West Virginia 65, No. 7 Kansas 64

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.

Jermaine Haley hurried up the court and hit a layup with 8.5 seconds left, completing a late rally that lifted West Virginia over No. 7 Kansas. West Virginia (9-9, 1-5 Big 12) scored the final seven points to break a five-game losing streak. Dedric Lawson and Marcus Garrett made layups 29 seconds apart to give the Jayhawks (15-3, 4-2) their largest lead at 64-58 with 2:34 left. Wes Harris responded with a 3-pointer for West Virginia and Derek Culver’s layup cut the deficit to 64-63 with 1:26 remaining. Haley led the Mountaineers with 13 points. James “Beetle” Bolden added 12 points despite playing with an illness and Culver, a Warren Harding graduate, scored 12. Lawson and Garrett had 15 points apiece for Kansas. Vick scored 13.

No. 1 Duke 72, No. 4 Virginia 70

DURHAM, N.C.

RJ Barrett scored 30 points, Zion Williamson had 27 and No. 1 Duke beat No. 4 Virginia to give the Cavaliers their first loss of the season. The Blue Devils bounced back from an overtime loss to Syracuse that could cost them their top ranking. DeAndre Hunter scored 18 points, and Ty Jerome and Kyle Guy had 14 apiece for the Cavaliers.

Wisconsin 64, No. 2 Michigan 54

MADISON, WIS.

Ethan Happ scored 26 points and had 10 rebounds as Wisconsin handed No. 2 Michigan its first loss of the season, breaking away in the final minute for a victory. The Wolverines closed within 57-54 on Isaiah Livers’ 3-pointer with just under a minute to play. Jon Teske led the Wolverines with 15 points and Jordan Poole added 14.

No. 3 Tennessee 71, Alabama 68

KNOXVILLE, TENN.

Grant Williams scored 21 points, and No. 3 Tennessee rallied past Alabama for its 12th straight win and a chance to climb atop the AP Top 25. John Petty matched a career high with 30 points. Tennessee led 69-68 when Williams was called for an offensive foul after leaning into Alabama’s Donta Hall with 11.3 seconds left. After a timeout, Alabama worked the ball to Petty, who traveled with 3.2 seconds left. Admiral Schofield had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Tennessee. Jordan Bowden scored 12 points, and Jordan Bone added 10. Hall had 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Baylor 73, No. 8 Texas Tech 62

WACO, TEXAS

Baylor freshman Jared Butler scored 14 of his 19 points after halftime and the Bears beat No. 8 Texas Tech, handing the Red Raiders their second loss in four days. Makai Mason added 16 points for Baylor. Jarrett Culver led the Red Raiders with 19 points and nine rebounds. Brandone Francis had 14 points and Davide Moretti had 13.

No. 9 Virginia Tech 87, Wake Forest 71

BLACKSBURG, VA.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 24 points and No. 9 Virginia Tech used a 14-4 first-half run to pull away from Wake Forest in a victory. Ty Outlaw added 14 points and Ahmed Hill 12 for the Hokies. Outlaw, Hill and Justin Robinson each made a 3-pointer during the burst, which turned a 17-all tie into a 31-21. The Demon Deacons didn’t get closer than eight the rest of the way. Brandon Childress scored 18 of his 28 points in the second half for Wake Forest.

No. 12 Kentucky 82, No. 14 Auburn 80

AUBURN, ALA.

Tyler Herro made two free throws with 24 seconds left and Immanuel Quickley added another to help No. 12 Kentucky survive a big rally from No. 12 Auburn. Auburn took an 80-79 lead on Jared Harper’s contested 3-pointer over Ashton Hagans with 32 seconds left. Herro grabbed the lead back from the line, then Harper held onto the ball for what he hoped would be a game-winner. Herro scored 15 in the second half and he and Keldon Johnson both scored 20 points for the Wildcats. Travis Reid had 17 points and seven rebounds as the Tigers played without injured center Austin Wiley. PJ Washington scored 13. Bryce Brown had 25 of his 28 points in the second half and was 6-of-7 shooting from 3-point range. Jared Harper had 17 points and six assists.

No. 13 North Carolina 85, Miami 76

CORAL GABLES, FLA.

Cameron Johnson scored 22 points, including 3-pointers on consecutive possessions in the closing minutes, and No. 13 North Carolina won a seesaw game against Miami. There were 18 lead changes, the last with 17 minutes to go. But Miami cut the margin to a point twice in the closing minutes, and each time Johnson responded with a 3-pointer from the corner. Kenny Williams finished with 16 points and seven assists. Coby White added 15 points and eight assists, and Luke Maye had 14 points and nine rebounds. Chris Lykes had 20 points and six assists.

No. 17 NC State 77, Notre Dame 73

SOUTH BEND, IND.

C.J. Bryce scored 23 points and No. 17 North Carolina State withstood several second-half challenges from Notre Dame for a victory. Devon Daniels scored 15 points, including four free throws in the final minute, and Torin Dorn had 13 for the Wolfpack. D.J. Funderburk added 11 points. TJ Gibbs hit three free throws and John Mooney dunked on the next possession to get Notre Dame within 75-73 with 17 seconds left. Daniels answered with two free throws, though, and Gibbs missed a 3 on the next possession with 7 seconds left. Freshman Dane Goodwin tied his career high with 19 points — 17 in the second half — and Mooney got his ACC-leading 10th double-double with 19 points and 16 rebounds for the Fighting Irish. Gibbs added 13 points, and D.J. Harvey scored 10.

No. 18 Mississippi 84, Arkansas 67

OXFORD, MISS.

Breein Tyree scored 22 points, Terence Davis added 18 and No. 18 Mississippi never trailed in a victory over Arkansas. The Razorbacks were led by Keyshawn Embery-Simpson, who scored 16 points. Ole Miss was in control from the opening tip, jumping out to an 11-2 lead in the opening minutes. The Rebels got some unexpected early production from Dominik Olejniczak, who poured in 13 points on 5 of 5 shooting from the field before the break.

Purdue 70, No. 25 Indiana 55

WEST LAFAYETTE, IND.

Carsen Edwards scored 20 points and backcourt mate Nojel Eastern had his first double-double to send Purdue past No. 25 Indiana for the Hoosiers’ fourth straight loss. Eastern finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds while locking down Indiana star freshman guard Romeo Langford in this state rivalry. Langford had just four points on 2-of-10 shooting and committed three turnovers. The Boilermakers made four of their first six 3-pointers in the second half to build a double-digit lead. For the Hoosiers, Justin Smith had 15 points and Juwan Morgan 14. They were the only Indiana players in double figures, and they struggled to defend a combination of Purdue centers. Purdue’s Matt Haarms finished with 12 points, four assists and four rebounds.
