Lunch programs at history center

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society has announced several upcoming programs in its Bites and Bits of History lunch program series.

All programs begin at noon at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., downtown. Guests can bring a lunch or go to nearby Overture restaurant for a $6 lunch special. Call Overture at 330-744-9900 to place an order. Coffee, pop and water are available for purchase at the Tyler.

Parking is available in the lot on the west side of the building for $2.50. For information, call the MVHS at 330-743-2589 or go to mahoninghistory.org. Here is the schedule:

Feb. 21 – President McKinley. Amber Farris, director, McKinley Memorial Museum, will discuss facets of the McKinley’s life that are less well known, from his time in the Civil War to joining the Masons, to his personal life from childhood through assassination.

March 21 – The John Stark Edwards Family. Meghan Reed of the Trumbull County Historical Society, will discuss this family, which includes Jonathan Edwards, Eli Whitney and Aaron Burr.

April 18 – Youngstown and the Titanic. Traci Manning, MVHS curator of education, will discuss Youngstowners who were passengers on the ship, including industrialist George Dennick Wick, who died in the catastrophe.
