CLASSES
USA Dance will offer cha cha lessons and general dancing Sunday at the Orthodox Center, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown. The schedule will be: Cha Cha Basics at 5 p.m.; intermediate and advanced cha cha lessons at 5:30; and open dancing to ballroom, Latin, swing and hustle from 6:15 to 9 p.m. Cost is $5 for USA Dance members, $10 for nonmembers and $2.50 for students. Friends of the Mahoning River, a nonprofit environmental group, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Oak Hill Collaborative, 507 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown. Parking is in the rear of the building. Ohio Valley Giant Pumpkin Growers will host a free seminar from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 2 at Parks Garden Center, 9010 state Route 62, Canfield. The seminar will be taught by Tim Parks, who will cover seed selection, soils, fertility, pests, pollination, pruning and irrigation. Pumpkin seeds will be available for sale. Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Drive, Boardman, will host a 13-week grief support series through the GriefShare ministry from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays. The GriefShare team provides a safe, understanding place for individuals to move through their personal grief journeys. Participants need not be church members. Each session is self-contained, so participants may enter at any session. Each session will include videos featuring some of the nation’s foremost experts on grief recovery. Sessions also include small-group support and a workbook for personal study. Participants are welcome to share stories, but are never forced. Attendance at consecutive sessions is encouraged for maximum benefit. Cost is $20. Checks should be made payable to Good Hope. Scholarships also are available at registration.
