The Canfield High School student council coordinated the annual Salvation Army Angel Tag Drive this holiday season and supplied the Salvation Army with a large variety of items for 200 Angel Tags, with donations coming from Student Council members and CHS students and staff.

The truckload of toys was loaded at Canfield High School and headed to the Salvation Army distribution center on Dec. 12.

Canfield High School student council board member Fiona Lally said it was humbling to see all the donated gift.

“Seeing all these donated gifts is humbling. To see some students take more than one tag is so great. They are willing to help and it’s just awesome,” Lally said.

The student council board members will also travel to the Salvation Army distribution center to help parents ‘shop’ for their children.

“Our students will go to the distribution center on the 19th and help parents and guardians pick out gifts for their children. They will spend half a day at the center helping. It‘s a very heartwarming experience,” said Renee English, student council co-advisor.

English said Canfield has consistently been the largest donor to the Salvation Army Angel Tag Drive.

“Historically, Canfield is the largest donating school in the Valley. This year we had people donate who didn’t even have a tag. That was the first time that has happened and it was fantastic,” English said.
