VOLLEYBALL
Girard’s Bornemiss commits to Penn State-Shenango
GIRARD
Girard High School senior Jenna Bornemiss, has committed to attend Penn State-Shenango and play on the school’s first women’s volleyball program. Bornemiss, the daughter of Joe and Renee Bornemiss of Girard, has been a setter for the Indians since she was a freshman. Jenna played both Junior Olympic volleyball and high school volleyball. She credits Girard volleyball coach Phil Walters for her volleyball development during the last six years. Girard assistant coaches Chelsea Guerrieri and Ashley Morley also played major roles in helping Bornemiss perfect her serving technique. She had a of 96-percent as a senior with the Indians. Bornemiss carries a 3.4 grade-point average and is a member of Beta Club, National Honor Society, Teen Institute and Italian Club.

Canfield led 29-7 by the end of the first quarter and led comfortably throughout. Serena Sammarone led the Cardinals (10-3, 2-1 All-American Conference Red Tier) with 20 points and Grace Mangapora finished with 18. Makenna Condon scored seven points for the Dragons.

Alex Ochman scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead four Tigers in double figures in a victory over the Raiders. Maria Dellimuti and Kayla Clark each scored 14 points and Alyssa Pompelia added 13 for Howland (8-6, 1-2 AAC Red). Kamarah Bender led all scorers with 20 points for Harding and Faith Burch just missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.
