‘Torah Studies’

The Villa Maria Education & Spirituality Center, 2067 Evergreen Road, will host “Torah Studies for Christians,” a series of lectures on Jewish/Christian studies, from 1 to 3 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month from Jan. 16 to May 15. The series is sponsored by Jewish/Christian Studies Youngstown and the B’Nai B’rith Guardian of the Menorah. There is no cost, but a free-will offering will be taken. Registration is requested. March for Life

Buses are being organized throughout the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown to transport people to the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 18.
January marks the 46th anniversary of the Supreme Court decisions Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, which struck down many laws against abortion. In recent years, the March for Life has drawn more than 250,000 marchers demonstrating on behalf of the right to life of unborn children. Open house

Mercy Community Church, 1321 Lansdowne Blvd., will have an open house to celebrate the purchase of their building at 4 p.m. Jan. 20. The church began nearly five years ago on the West Side and has moved its community mission to the East Side.
The praise team of Friendship Baptist Church of Girard will lead in praise and worship. Pastor Mark Parks of Grace Place and interim pastor of Pilgrim Baptist Church in Struthers will deliver the afternoon message. The Rev. Ron Thompson is pastor of Mercy Community.
