Canfield swimmers compete in tri-meet

The Canfield High School swim team competed at a tri-meet between Boardman and Massillon Perry on Dec. 22 at Massillon Perry.

The CHS boys swimmers came in second place with a score of 79 against Boardman’s 157 and Masillon Perry’s 77.

Events where boys swimmers placed in the top three were the 200 medley relay team of Matthew Peckman, Bobby Kutsch, James Dietz and Jason Paris (second); in the 200 individual medley - Luke Dietz (third); in the 50 freestyle - Jason Paris (first); in the 100 freestyle - Matthew Peckman (third); in the 400 freestyle - Rob DiDomenico (second); the 200 meter freestyle relay team of Kutsch, J. Dietz, Peckman and Paris in first with a school record breaking time of 1:40.94; in the 100 backstroke - Connor Fritz (second) and the 400 freestyle relay team of Rob DiDomenico, Joe Klepec, Connor Fritz and Luke Dietz (third).

The girls team came in third with a score of 73 to Boardman’s 158 and Massillon Perry’s 91.

Events where girls swimmers placed in the top three were the 200 medley relay team of Sydney Schuler, Elle Dawson, Jordan Helmick and Miranda Peckman (second); in the 200 Individual Medley - Elle Dawson (second); in the 50 meter freestyle - Sydney Schuler (second) with a school record breaking time of 28.61; in the 400 freestyle - Sydney Schuler (first) and the 200 meter freestyle relay team of Miranda Peckman, Helmick, Dawson and Schuler (second) with a record breaking time of 1:57.38.
