Photo exhibition at JCC

An exhibition titled “Far Closer,” described by creators Jaclyn Silverman and R. Clarke-Davs as a photographic conversation concerning their relationship to sense of place, belonging and community, will open Jan. 10 at the Thomas Family Gallery at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, Yougnstown, with a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The public is welcome, and admission is free. Silverman is a Youngstown native who carries the city’s history of industrial loss and rebuilding. Attracted to family businesses and their communities, she seeks the relationships between people and structures sharing similarities with the three cities she considers home – Youngstown, Columbus and Chicago. Clarke-Davis, a native of Baltimore who now lives in the Midwest, has found solace and a connection with people with a similar sense of displaced, distanced loyalties while continuing the search for a similar community.
