ALLIANCE

Mount Union’s women’s basketball team has three athletes named to the 2018-19 All-Ohio Athletic Conference teams.

Senior guard Rachel Tinkey (Canfield) represents the Purple Raiders on the first team, while junior guard Tori Rappach (Howland) and senior forward Jaime Sanborn receive honorable mention.

This is Tinkey’s second all-conference selection after being named to the second team last season. The senior captain averaged 14.8 points per game in 26 starts. With 386 points on the year, Tinkey became the 16th Mount Union women’s basketball player to score 1,000 points as she concludes her career with a total of 1,072 points.

Rappach receives her first conference honor after playing all 26 games with 25 starts. Averaging 12.2 points a game, she was Mount Union’s second leading scorer and broke the program record for 3-pointers in a game with nine against Wilmington on Dec. 8. Rappach currently leads all of Division III with 3.65 3-pointers a game and is fourth among all divisions in the category. At 42.0 percent from behind the arc, Rappach is second in the conference leaderboard for 3-point percentage.
