YSU’s Zallow, Elliott to compete in NCAAs

The NCAA has announced that Youngstown State senior Chad Zallow and junior Jaliyah Elliott have both qualified to compete in the NCAA Track and Field Championships on March 8-9 at the University of Alabama Birmingham. Zallow has qualified for the 60m hurdles while Elliott will run in the 60m dash.
Zallow enters the race with the fourth-fastest time in the country at 7.66 seconds, which he set at the Penn State National Open back in January. The semifinal race is set for 7:17 p.m. Eastern time at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The top two from each heat, and next four fastest times advance to run the finals on March 9 at 5:40 p.m.
Last season at Texas A&M’s Gilliam Indoor Stadium, Zallow ran a time of 7.720 seconds to secure a fifth place finish, while also earning first-team All-American Honors for the second consecutive year. As sophomore in 2017, Zallow placed third and earned first-team All-American honors.
Elliott’s top time in the event came this past weekend at the Horizon League Indoor Championships when she broke the school, meet, and facility record with a time of 7.25 seconds. Elliott enters the race with the 12th fastest time in the country. The semifinal race is set for 7:57 p.m. on March 8, with the top two from each heat and next four fastest times advancing to run in the finals on March 9 at 6:10 p.m.
