Shutt, YSU women’s golf team set records
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C.
A record-breaking performance by Katlyn Shutt helped propel the Youngstown State women’s golf team to the best 54-hole tournament in program history in the Kiawah Island Spring Classic at Kiawah Island Golf Resort on Tuesday.
The Penguins posted a three-round team score of 878 (293-297-288) to finish seventh out of 49 teams, and shatter the previous school record of 913 for lowest 54-hole tournament performance.
Shutt carded a three-round 213 (74-72-67) to finish tied for third and break her own school record of 217 for best 54-hole score. The junior’s third-round 67 (-5) is tied for the second-lowest single-round score in program history, behind only the 64 that she posted earlier this season at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational.
Shutt now holds three of the four lowest rounds in school history. The Dover native was named to the Kiawah Island Spring Classic All-Tournament Team. Shutt’s 67 also tied for the second-lowest single round of the event.
Rattika Sittigool recording the third-lowest three-round score in school history with a 218 (71-74-73) to finish in a tie for 21st.
Boardman High School graduate Jenna Vivo recorded the first eagle of her career for YSU.
