The Canfield High School wrestling team honored its six senior members during Senior Night on Feb. 13. The wrestlers were recognized prior to the team’s match against Austintown Fitch.
Vince Agostonelli, Aidan Burscak, Ben Cutrer, David Reinhart, Shawn Rollins and Tyler Stein were escorted by their families through the Fighting Cardinals tunnel and onto the wrestling mat. As their underclassman teammates cheered them on, each senior was introduced with their record, future plans and favorite memory of their wrestling career.
Head Wrestling Coach Stephen Pitts greeted each senior and their family as they left the mat. It was also announced that this group of senior wrestlers has a record of 56-11 for the four years they have wrestled for Canfield High School.
Burscak is a four-year letter man and three-time district qualifier. Reinhart’s career record is 100-30. He earned his 100th win on Feb. 2 against Beaver Local, is the EOWL runner-up and last year’s champion, Joshua Hephner Tournament champion and placed sixth in the Brecksville Holiday Tournament. Cutrer’s career record is 91-36. He placed sixth in last year’s district tournament, earned EOWL third place, Joshua Hephner Tournament third place and Bill Dies third place. Stein’s career record is 131-19 He earned his 100th victory in the state finals last year, is current state champion, Brecksville champion, Bill Dies champion and Ohio State University signee.
The wrestlers’ senior photo boards were on display in the athletic foyer, chronicling their wrestling careers. A reception was offered in the athletic foyer for the seniors, their families, teammates and fans after the match.
