Schuler and Dawson qualify for district tournament

The Canfield girls 200 medley relay team of Sydney Schuler, Elle Dawson, Jordan Helmick and Miranda Peckman placed ninth with a time of 2:00.81 at the Division 1 sectionals on Feb. 9.

This same foursome placed eighth in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:46.27, two spots away from a district berth.

The 400 free relay team of Theresa Wasylychyn, Tessa Searcy, Kristin Shelley and Isabella Kelty placed 12th with a time of 4:21.05.

Schuler placed 10th in the 200 freestyle (2:04.87) and 11th in the 500 freestyle (5:45.21), and qualified in both events for the district tournament to be held at Cleveland State University on Feb. 16. Dawson placed 12th in 100 backstroke (1:04.67), also qualifying for the district tournament.

Placing in the top 20 was Helmick, who placed 19th in butterfly (1:06.94) and 19th in backstroke (1:09.29).
