YOUNGSTOWN

The Society of St. John Chrysostom Youngstown-Warren Chapter recently attended the Diocese of Youngstown’s 75th Jubilee Ecumenical Evening Prayer Service at St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown.

The society, which began in England in 1926, is an ecumenical group of clergy and lay people organized for the purpose of promoting an understanding of Eastern Christianity and unity between Orthodox and Catholic Christians. It began in the United States in 1998.

The national chapter sponsors the Orientale Lumen Conferences annually, which provide an opportunity for lay people and clergy to meet, discuss topics of mutual interest, and learn from one another’s traditions.

The Youngstown-Warren chapter meets every other month and sponsors special events. Anyone interested in membership or information about the Society of St. John Chrysostom Youngstown-Warren Chapter should call 330-573-8653 or visit www.byzcath.org/stjohnchrysostom.
