Students at C.H. Campbell Elementary School celebrated Valentine’s Day with classroom parties on Feb. 13.

Students passed out valentines to their classmates, played games and made crafts during the school’s annual celebration.

Each class had a party in their classroom, which was coordinated by PTA volunteers. The school’s PTA provided doughnuts as a snack for the students and also provided bottled water for the parties.

Students brought in hand-decorated Valentine bags and boxes, such as a tea cart, a unicorn, a birdhouse, a dragon, a military tank, a Lego, a puppy, a cat, a hot air balloon, a taco, a panda bear, a Valentine vending machine and Steelers, Browns and Ohio State University themed boxes, to collect valentines and treats from their classmates.

Valentine-themed games students played included an inflatable heart target game, a relay race, bowling, Valentine bingo, heart hop, heart bean bag toss and an Orbeez scavenger hunt, during which students were blindfolded and had to use their hands to find objects from a designated list in a tub filled with hundreds of Orbeez.

Crafts the students enjoyed making were Valentine pillows, Valentine crowns, Valentine slime and a mini candy machine made from a plastic jar and paper cup, with red candy included.

Many students, staff and PTA volunteers also got into the spirit of the holiday and celebrated it by wearing their Valentine best, including red, pink and white shirts and special Valentine-themed clothes, accessories such as heart headbands and hair bows.
