Youngstown State has hired former Pittsburgh offensive line coach John Peterson for the same job with the Penguins. Peterson announced the hire on his Twitter account Tuesday evening.

Peterson and YSU head coach Bo Pelini were Ohio State teammates from 1987-90.

Peterson later spent eight seasons as a Buckeyes assistant. He worked for then-Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel from 2004-10 and for interim coach Luke Fickell in 2011.

Peterson also coached at Miami of Ohio (1999-2003) and Arizona (January-April 2004).
