Poland, Bristol only teams in final AP state rankings
Poland and Bristol are the only teams standing in the final state polls released on Monday. The Bulldogs (18-2) moved from sixth to fourth in Division II with 98 points and one first-place vote. The Panthers (17-3) moved up one spot to sixth in Division IV with 72 points. The Bulldogs have the top seed in the Division II Youngstown District. After its first-round bye, Poland will play the Niles-West Branch winner. The Panthers also received a bye as the second seed in the Orwell District in Division IV. Bristol will play the Warren JFK-Maplewood winner. Both playoff games will be played on March 1.

Dani Vuletich broke Western Reserve’s single-season scoring record in the win. Vuletich has 449 points this year after leading the Blue Devils with 24 points, 19 rebounds and five blocks. The previous record was 432 set by Aleah Hughes. Kennedy Miller finished with six points for Western Reserve (19-3). Abigail Spalding led the Blue Jays (10-12) with 11 points and Courtney Mercer added 10.

Hubbard, Struthers, individuals advance to state in Division II
NORTH OLMSTED
The Hubbard and Struthers girls bowling teams advanced to state after qualifiying in districts on Sunday at Buckeye Lanes in North Olmsted. Coventry finished first with 3,382 pins with Hubbard (3,361 ) finishing third and Struthers (3,098) coming in fourth. Amber Davis led the Eagles with 608 pins. Hubbard’s others scorers were Jennifer Reebel (500), Bethany Jones (395), Brooke Papini (392) and Maggie Lewis (522). Madison Stanton led the Wildcats’ with 599 pins. Struthers other scorers were Elizabeth Dragus (477), Hayley Horkey (106), Sara Hill (136), Hannah Hoffman (432), and Hailey DeGenaro (258). Girard (3,056) finished fifth, Lowellville (2,929) came in 10th and Champion (2,619) was 14th. Heidi Trautman will represent Girard as an individual qualifier. Trautman finished with a tounament-high 614 pins. Lowellville’s Haylie Rotz also advanced. She claimed the final individual qualifying spot with 516 pins. As of press time, boys results had not been reported.
