Several injured in Boardman fire

Several people, including a firefighter, required hospitalization because of a fire that ignited in a four-plex on Shields Road near Market Street about 3:15 a.m. Saturday.

One room was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The blaze started in the downstairs area and at least three people were pulled to safety through an upstairs window, reported 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and part of Shields was closed while the fire was being fought.
