The Austintown branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County hosted a DIY lotion making event on Jan. 24.

Librarian Renee Beverly hosted the event.

“I got the idea from Pinterest,” Beverly said. “It’s just a fun easy project that we can do.”

The library provided all supplies, which included baby lotion, coconut oil, vitamin E cream, essential oil and bottles.

Beverly started the event by explaining to community members how to create the lotion.

“It’s actually really easy, you gather the supplies and you can make a lot of lotion,” Beverly said. “And you get to personalize it too which is great.”

Community members mixed pre-portioned ingredients together, adding essential oil if they chose to add a specific smell. More than 15 people attended the event, which is the first of its kind at the library.

“We love to be able to have fun events like this, that teach people how to do something new and easy,” Beverly said.
