Wright State trustees OK tentative pact with union

FAIRBORN, Ohio (AP) — A tentative agreement between Wright State University and faculty union negotiators in Ohio has won the approval of WSU’s trustees and will be voted on soon by union members.

Faculty members began striking Jan. 22 and returned to classrooms Monday after the tentative pact’s approval Sunday.

The nearly five-year deal includes contracts extending through June 2023. It calls for the roughly 560 members of Wright State’s chapter of the American Association of University Professors to join a universitywide health-care plan. Faculty will get up to a 2.5 percent raise in 2022 and a 2.5 percent raise in 2023.

The union says it made financial concessions in health care and other areas.

WSU’s president says the deal should save the university around $3 million to $4 million per year.
