St. David’s Day Banquet set for March 2

CANFIELD

St. David’s Society of Youngstown will host its 128th annual St. David’s Day Banquet at 2:30 p.m. March 2 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. The event is in honor of the patron saint of Wales. There will be Welsh flags, shields, banners and daffodils, the flower of Wales. There also will be food, entertainment by The Lawrence County Brass, a speaker and group singing, all in the Welsh tradition.

The public is invited. Cost per person is $22. For reservations, call 330-787-4484 before Feb. 22.

The St. David’s Society was established in 1860 as an organization in which the Welsh people of the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys could gather together to preserve and promote their Welsh heritage and to carry on the traditions of their native Wales. Membership is open to the public. Anyone interested in becoming a member should email welshman1828@yahoo.com.
