The four senior members of the Canfield High School Lady Cardinals basketball team were honored during Senior Night on Feb. 2.
Mia Cayavec, Gianna Flask, Serena Sammarone and Britney Young were honored prior to the girls varsity game versus Lakeside High School.
The players and their families were greeted by Head Coach Matt Reel, junior varsity coach Michael Scott and Athletic Director Greg Cooper. The players were escorted by their parents onto the court as they walked through rows of cheering underclassman teammates, The seniors were also presented with a small bouquet of roses by an underclassman teammate as they walked on the court.
After the game, the seniors, their families and teammates were treated to a catered dinner in the athletic foyer. Also set up in the athletic foyer were the players’ senior picture boards which featured numerous photos from their entire basketball careers. Also on display were players’ awards, certificates, trophies and a framed action photo.
Coach Scott made each senior player a wooden gift personalized with their name and number as a keepsake of their time with the Lady Cardinals basketball program.
To honor Lakeside High School’s senior players, the senior Lady Cardinals presented each of them with a rose as they were introduced before the game.
