The Toyhio Toy Show will return to the Metroplex Expo Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday
The show and sale will feature more than 100 tables of vintage to modern toys, collectibles, pop vinyls, video games and more. Admission is $3 ($5 for early admission at 10 a.m.).
The Toyhio Toy Show is presented by Girard businessman Rick Fusselman, who owns Time Capsule Toys, 1 N. Market St., and Girard native Thomas Troll.
The two came up with the idea three years ago when they realized there was a demand for an event like this in the Mahoning Valley.
Before Toyhio, casual and avid toy collectors had to travel to Pittsburgh or Cleveland for a toy show of this magnitude, said Fusselman.
“Tom and I always go to toy shows, and we felt the need to bring one to our area,” said Fusselman. “I co-own a toy shop in the area with my girlfriend, so we knew there was interest in the area. But it blew up into something bigger than we expected.”
Fusselman said that toy collectors range in age from young to old. “Toy collecting is becoming very popular,” he said. “There are many toy collectors in our area. Lots of people in this area collect GI Joe and Transformers.”
The expo center is located off Belmont Avenue, near the I-80 interchange (address is 1620 Motor Inn Drive, Girard 44420). Parking is free.
